Mardi Himal Trek is one of the best and short trek which lies in the Annapurna region of Nepal. Mardi Himal Trek is known as the hidden gem of Nepal. Few trekkers make it to the Mardi Himal Base Camp, which is ideally situated at the base of Mardi Himal and the Annapurna region’s most popular mountain, Machapuchhre, which means “Fishtail.” The trail winds through enchanted rhododendron forests until it emerges at an elevation of about 3,300 meters.

Climbing about 4-5 hours from High Camp, you’ll catch an amazing view of the whole Annapurna rages. Also. When to trek?

Mid Sept-October – November is Autumn Season: During this season, skies are clear, moderate temperature, stable weather condition, and also peak season so it is the best season for mountain views. There is a high possibility of cold temperature during morning and night. Therefore, it is necessary to carry sufficient clothes.

May – June: During these months, the Pre-monsoon season starts in Nepal and gets warm. The valleys, trails start to bloom with different colors of flowers, leaves, and other vegetation. Though it is also somehow possible time to explore Mardi.

June – Mid September: This is the season of Monsoon in Nepal which is also least popular for having trek in this region or whole part in Nepal. During this season, fewer tourists show interest in trekking in this region due to leeches, rainfall, and other natural disasters. In case if you are interested in trekking during this season then make sure to wear long trekking trousers tucked, full t-shirts along comfortable trekking boots.


Getting there and away

Except for the Annapurna Circuit, the Mardi Himal Trek begins and ends in Pokhara, Nepal’s second-largest city and a naturally blessed place to relax after a day of hiking in Annapurna. It’s 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu. Domestic airlines operate multiple flights per day from Kathmandu, with prices ranging from USD 110 to 125.00 per person. Also, a tourist bus ride takes about 7-8 hours (Cost USD 10 – 25). From Kathmandu, local buses run every hour until 3 p.m. Every morning at 7:00 a.m., Green Line Buses (USD 25.00 per person) and other tourist buses leave. The private car can be managed if you are interested.


How fit I should be?

Trekking in the Mardi Himal route does not require any kind of fitness level. This is a short trek that can be done easily but you have to trek over some rocky section near the high camp and base camp. We request you to be well prepared about the packing clothes, emergency first aid box and be well prepared as there might be a chance of altitude sickness in higher elevation. Do not forget to drink plenty of water for keeping your body dehydrated.



You need to get TIMS Card, and ACAP permits to journey to Mardi Himal Base Camp. The expense of the TIMS Card is US$18 for an individual adventurer and US$ 9 for a group explorer. Moreover, the estimation of the ACAP license is US$ 27 for each individual.


How much does it cost?

Depending upon tour, accommodation, and transportation, you will pay around $500 per person for a single trip. For solo customers, the single supplement fee is USD 85.00. The cost will be determined by your budget, the number of days you spend in the lap of the mountain, the deluxe tour, types of accommodation you offered in town.

Taking a flight to and from Pokhara saves time and is more convenient than taking a long, exhausting bus ride, even though taking the bus saves money. Accommodation in Kathmandu will be extra, or you can make your arrangements.
